In essence, Ego isn’t a Celestial. Instead, he’s more like a parasite who follows the cosmic energy the Celestials leave behind. Like the Horde, whichever side gets more power first will be able to reap the benefits of the planet’s energies.
You could be thinking “Is ego the Living Planet a good celestial?”
2, Ego the Living Planet (who’s not really, technically, a Celestial) is a little more dastardly and world-conquering than usual for a Celestial, but he has the megalomaniac vibe down pat. It’s just that most Celestials are a little more benevolent than him.
This of course begs the inquiry “Is Peter Parker’s ego more benevolent than the other Celestials?”
One source stated it’s just that most Celestials are a little more benevolent than him. Luckily, the destruction of Ego at the end of Vol. 2, confirmed by Peter losing his newfound powers, might have put a stop to any Celestial trouble in the MCU’s future.
Devron the Experimenter and Gamiel the Manipulator were tasked with watching over Earth for a period of time. 2, Ego the Living Planet (who’s not really, technically, a Celestial) is a little more dastardly and world-conquering than usual for a Celestial, but he has the megalomaniac vibe down pat.
What is ego’s nature?
Celestial Physiology: Ego is a Celestial, a primordial race of entities with vast cosmic power, capable of manipulating matter and energy. Ego lacks a true body, his “core” being a glowing blue brain that houses his consciousness.
Another common inquiry is “How powerful is ego the one above all?”.
He’s been seen teleporting characters as powerful as Thor away in a second’s notice, and the One Above All was used to rebirth all the Celestials when they had been killed. While Ego did lose his life to the Guardians of the Galaxy, he’s the one with most known feats out of all the Celestials.
A frequent question we ran across in our research was “How did ego get his power?”.
Molecular Manipulation: As a Celestial, Ego is able to manipulate matter at a molecular level. While giving Star-Lord, Drax, and Gamora a tour of his planet, he told them that it took him millions of years to master this ability, and that it was thanks to it that he was able to form the planet they were walking on.
Luckily, the destruction of Ego at the end of Vol. 2, confirmed by Peter losing his newfound powers, might have put a stop to any Celestial trouble in the MCU’s future. Now, all the Guardians have to worry about is teaming up with the Avengers when Thanos inevitably takes hold of the Infinity Stones.
